Global Learning & International Links

Granton is proud to have established a number of global and international links which we use to support not only our children's knowledge and understanding of the world around them but also to develop staff and student’s language skills.

Granton's global learning and international links include, but are not limited to:

  • Funding from the European Union has enabled us to develop reciprocal partnerships with schools in France, Finland, Poland and Portugal.
  • Funding from the British Council has allowed us to visit our partner school in Tanzania several times in the last few years with us previously welcoming our Tanzanian colleagues to London. We are currently trying to arrange further funding to allow them to visit us again.
  • Funding from the European Union, Erasmus + program has enabled us to send groups of staff to Bordeaux, Nice and Montpellier during the school holidays to develop their French language skills. Our last visit was to Bordeaux in October 2022 but we are very keen to maintain our links with our friends in France.
  • We have welcomed teachers and students from Holland, Poland and Portugal to visit our school and share their experiences with our staff and children.

Granton's commitment to global learning sees us as an active member of the Association of Language Learning with whom we work to develop global learning and language awareness and appreciation across Lambeth and London.

The impact of our international links on our children's s learning means that we are the proud recipients of the British Council's ‘International School Award’ and we look forward to continuing to develop our global links around the world through their ‘Ambassador’ role scheme.

We are currently taking part in a research project with Southampton and Reading universities on the importance of literacy skills in foreign language learning and using digital means to engage children and increase understanding and attainment.
